toil and trouble

"You must stay drunk on writing so that reality cannot destroy you." - Ray Bradbury

When I was in middle school, I read Fahrenheit 451. I was a bit too young at the time to understand the intricacies of the story--the dark, multilayered flourishes that make Bradbury Bradbury, which I would later discover in Something Wicked This Way Comes--but the point has stuck with me ever since: read. And when you cannot read, create.

"Remember the firemen are rarely necessary. The public stopped reading of its own accord."
