sehnsucht

I found the journal I took to Europe with me when I was 16. My awful handwriting notwithstanding, I sound...cultured. Older, somehow. More worldly. It was over three years ago now, but just reading about all that I did on a day in London...I visited Westminster Abbey, saw the crown jewels at the Tower of London, tried to go through Platform 9 and 3/4, and saw "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Globe. To think that I was able to do all of that in one day, to absorb all of that culture and history in one day...

I will spend my first three weeks abroad, I am told, studying German for four hours a day and going on excursions to historical and cultural sites around the city.

I cannot wait to be in Berlin.
