Day 1: A [short playlist] from your childhood.
1. The Beatles: Eight Days a Week
My mother liked to play The Beatles in the car when I was little because it was music she liked but was still appropriate for little kids who didn't think it was weird to live on a yellow submarine. By the time I was six, I knew the words to every single song on "One". This was my favorite.
2. Eric Clapton: Layla
She also liked to play Eric Clapton, because songs about lust and dead children are positive influences.
3. Avril Lavigne: Things I'll Never Say
I had horrible taste in music in elementary school.
4. Mandy Moore: Candy
See #3.
5. Clay Cross: Saving the World
I also had several WOW albums, courtesy of my father, who thought Christina Aguilera was too...promiscuous...for children. My father is an evangelical Christian. Hence, WOW.
6. N*Sync: Here We Go
N*SYNC IS BETTER THAN BACKSTREET BOYS TAKE THAT.
7. Britney Spears: Lucky
If you grew up in the 90s and don't have Britney Spears on your list, you either lived under a rock, had no soul, or were Mormon.
8. The Monkees: I'm a Believer
I made up my own version of this with random ornamentation and riffs that involved notes I only wish I could still belt. (Though I did belt a high A the other day and was quite pleased with myself.)
.
I do not want to go back to school. School makes me feel unaccomplished and reminds me of that scary "real world" thing that is rumored to exist somewhere beyond graduation.
