I am going to petition the Curriculum Committee to allow me to add a minor to my double major. I suppose it is accurate (though unflattering) to say that I want to do this to accomplish something; I want to show that I can get around policies I find unattractive--in short, I want to prove that I can get what I want.
I had decided pretty strongly, until about an hour ago, that the minor would be in German. I am going to take German language courses anyway because I love the language, so I figured I might as well get the credit.
But I think business is practical. I think knowledge of business is essential no matter your field of study. I am a capitalist at heart. And I like the vision of cold glass buildings and blazers and New York. I am not sure why I like this vision so much. I like New York, I guess, though I have never been there.
Selling point: the business minor is 7 credits. Three of these credits are allowed to overlap with my econ major and include courses I have already taken. One of these credits may be a political science credit, which helps considerably. One of these credits may be a course I was planning on taking later anyway (International Econ II). The other two courses were not ones I was planning on taking, but I would not mind squeezing them in (Business and Society and Ethics and Business).
I don't know.

Your German may be a better thing to petition for than Business; Business to many seems the poor man's Econ, so I think your resume would be diversified -enhance your IR, too - if you could claim German, not Business.
Just saying.
