so that my sons may have liberty

I believe every U.S. citizen should familiarize him or herself with how our political system works and how candidates are elected to offices. I believe that every able U.S. citizen has a duty to participate in the democratic process in one form or another, be that voting, volunteering/working for a campaign, or donating money.

That being said, I don't like campaigning. Campaigning is the promotion of a single person without regard to his or her vices. It is also the complete degradation of the opponent without regard to his or her virtues. It is a process of eliminating the gray areas. In campaign speak, it is turning everyone into ones or fives, because campaign staffers can't make sense of the ambiguity of twos, threes, and fours.

Maybe campaigning wasn't designed to be like this.
