(paraphrased from the ECON 302 syllabus, because my professor managed to write two pages on it):
Each student will be required to pay 90 Knapps in taxes in exchange for five percent of his or her grade. The Knapp is a currency internal to and issued by the Economics Department. In order to obtain Knapps, students may solve extra credit problems on quizzes and exams and do extra homework problems. Students may also exchange Knapps among themselves for dollars, food, etc. [emphasis mine].
My professor is thus encouraging me to buy my grade. He is also encouraging me to counterfeit (or at least he was, until he realized this possibility and started putting serial numbers on the Knapps and keeping tabs on our transactions.)
Life is great.
